Session Notes for RD1204 Prepared by D. Behrend for a schedule written by Jing Sun (Vienna University of Technology). =========================================================== PURPOSE AND GENERAL NOTES =========================================================== The purpose of RD1204 is twofold: (1) Test the new scheduling software VIE_SCHED, part of the Vienna VLBI Software VieVS, in an operational setting. (2) Continue the series of R&D sessions with observations close to the Sun (see, e.g., RD1106 for a description) This is the fifth session with observations close to the Sun. Note: As this is the first operational schedule written with a new software, it is expected that minor issues may arise. Please provide feedback if you encounter problems so that the scheduling software can be corrected and improved. Send any message to the Coordinating Center. The RD1204 schedule uses the R1 frequency setup. It was generated using SNRs of 20 at X-band and 15 at S-band for all stations except TIGO which was scheduled with values of 18 and 12. All stations have been fully scheduled. The schedule was optimized to obtain the largest number of observations with sources close to the Sun. The schedule uses a selection of 118 sources, eight of which have an angular distance less than 15 deg to the Sun: 0507+179, 0515+208, 0528+134, 0536+145, 0544+273, 0548+378, 0600+177, 0611+131. There are 55 observational scans with a distance to the Sun ranging from 4.2 deg to 14.5 deg. These scans are observed by subnets of the following five stations: Kk, Ma, Ny, Ts, and Wz. There are no scans close to the Sun for Ft and Tc.
