The IVS-R4 sessions seem to be achieving better earth orientation results with a lower data rate (56 vs. 256). The R&D sessions are being scheduled to aide the analysts in understanding the 2002 results of the IVS-R1 and IVS-R4 sessions by scheduling sessions with a simular IVS-R4 network using the IVS-R1 observing mode. Type of Experiment This experiment uses a 7-station northern hemisphere geodetic network. The R&D sessions are scheduled monthly, adjacent to the IVS-R4 sessions with the same stations except one. Westford will participate in the R&D and the IVS-R4 sessions will have Fortaleza. Fortaleza can not participate in the R&D session because those sessions will be scheduled with the Mark IV mode. Fortaleza has not been upgraded to Mark IV or higher as yet. C. Thomas took the IVS-R4 schedule, prepared by M. Carter, and replaced Fortaleza with Westford and replaced the GEOSXR4 (112 data rate) with the GEOSX4F (256 data rate) recording mode. The R&D schedule was made with the new stations and recording mode. =========================================================== SKED Summary from file ./rd0305.skd for experiment RD0305 (all scans with at least one subnet station) Average number of obs. per baseline per source (normalized by up-time) = 5.0 Min = .0 Max = 65.0 (Baseline Ny-Wz on CTA26 ) RMS = 6.4 Total time: 1431 minutes ( 23.9 hours).
