However, Kashima26m is so old that its performance is not so high in the world VLBI standard, so the GSI established Tsukuba VLBI station (32m antenna) in 1998. The domestic VLBI tie experiment (Japan-tie) is intended to perform a highly precise tie among the large antennas, Tsukuba32m, Kashima26m and Kashima34m. The purpose of the JPNTI sessions is to transfer the valuable result of log period by Kashima26m and Kashima34m to Tsukuba-32m. Three KSP stations also participate in this experiment. Schedule ======== This is a new schedule generated by M. Onogaki with the automatic mode of sked. The following are the characteristics of the schedule: 1) This schedule was optimized for sky coverage. 2) Only the observations in the previous 3 hours of the schedule were considered for the minor options. The best 20% of the configurations were considered for minor options. 3) The "minor options" were set to select observations to maximize the total number of observations and to minimize time between scans on the same source by thirty minutes. 4) In the baselines for three stations, Kashima26m, Kashima34m and Tsukuba32m, the minimum SNR limits were set to 20 for X-band and 15 for S-band. In the baselines of four KSP stations and three stations (Kashima26m, Kashima34m, Tsukuba32m), the minimum SNR limits were set to 15 for X-band and 15 for S-band. Since the baselines of KSP stations didn't take out fringe, the SNR limits were set to 0 for X-band and S-band. 5) Scan lengths were calculated based on the flux densities of observed sources and correlated amplitudes of sources to obtain SNR mentioned above. The scan lengths were then fixed in the schedule. This was necessary because the capability of the Koganei correlator to process different scan lengths has not been tested yet. Frequencies and Recording Mode ============================== Modified CDP-SX narrow-band sequence by shift with -1MHz for X-band and +2MHz for S-band is used, because the frequency spacing of the P-cal signals at KSP stations are currently 5MHz. The following frequency sequences are used in this experiment. For TSUKUB32, KASHIM34, KASHIM11, KOGANEI and TATEYAMA Band Local Freq. VC# X 8209.99 1 X 8219.99 2 X 8249.99 3 X 8309.99 4 X 8419.99 5 X 8499.99 6 X 8549.99 7 X 8569.99 8 X 8229.99 9 X 8559.99 10 S 2219.99 11 S 2224.99 12 S 2239.99 13 S 2269.99 14 S 2294.99 15 S 2304.99 16 For KASHIMA26 Band Local Freq. VC# X 8209.99 1 X 8219.99 2 X 8249.99 3 X 8309.99 4 X 8419.99 5 X 8499.99 6 X 8549.99 7 X 8569.99 8 S 2219.99 9 S 2224.99 10 S 2219.99 11 S 2224.99 12 S 2239.99 13 S 2269.99 14 S 2294.99 15 S 2304.99 16 Ch.9 and Ch.10 are dummies. Kashima26m uses K-4 rack (Type1), so the frequency arrangement of Kashima26m differs from other stations. Antennas and Equipment ====================== Tsukuba32m uses K-4 rack (Type 2) and K-4 recorder (Type 2). Kashima26m uses the K-4 rack (Type 1) and K-4 recorder (Type 2). FS9 is used in each station for this experiment. Kashima-34m uses K-3 rack and K-4 recorder (Type 1). Field system developed by CRL originally is used on HP1000/A400. Three KSP stations use the K-4 rack (Type 2) and K-4 recorder (Type 2). Field system developed by CRL originally is used on NEC EWS4800 (Unix). The 10MHz frequency reference signal at Kashima34 station is shifted by +2x10^(-9) to introduce artificial fringe rate for the short baselines (Kashima34m-Kashima26m and Kashima34m-Kashima11m). In this experiment, the 10MHz reference signal at Kashima26m station is also shifted by -2x10^(-9), so the fringes of the short baseline(Kashima26m-Kashima11m) will also be found out. Correlation =========== This experiment will be correlated at the Koganei KSP Correlator with all baselines being correlated.
