EUROPE-6/96 (EUROPEAN Geodetic VLBI Network session 6/96) Notes prepared by Axel Nothnagel, University of Bonn Geodetic Institute Date of experiment: 1996 December 5 Nominal start time: 22h00 UT Nominal end time: 22h10 UT on December 6 Duration: 24 hrs Particpation of Madrid (DSS65) Dec 6, 09h40 - Dec 6, 22h10 UT Effelsberg Dec 5, 22h00 - Dec 6, 14h00 Correlator: Bonn Participating stations: Station Code Wettzell Wz Madrid 65 Matera Mr Medicina Mc Onsala On Noto Nt Effelsberg Eb Simeiz Sm Ny Alesund Ny Yebes Yb Tape usage and scans to be observed: See summary of schedule below Schedule name: xxxxxxx.SKD on CDDIS for all stations except DSS65 DSN file name: Purpose ======= The purpose of this experiment is to determine station coordinates in the European geodetic VLBI network with the highest precision possible. Schedule ======== The schedule was produced by Axel Nothnagel using the automatic mode of sked. The schedule was optimized for local sky coverage. The first scan was scheduled for 180 sec on 0552+398 in order to facilitate fringe search. The minimum SNR on all baselines is 25 at X band and 15 at S band. As compared to previous schedules the X band SNR threshold was increased a bit because the analysis of earlier experiments showed that observations with marginal SNR had a much wider scatter than those with sufficient SNR. However, this increase has not reduced the number of observations. The schedule was made with the early tape start (15 seconds) feature. Wettzell was excluded for IRIS-Intensive between 15h04 and 16h49 on Dec. 6. Procedures ========== The frequency sequence, EUR-SX, used for all recent EUROPE experiments will also be used for this experiment.
